Garden District: A Local Historic District

historic

After many years of research and hard work on the part of both the Garden District Association and the Historic District Landmarks Commission (HDLC), on June 7, 2007 the City Council approved (upon the recommendation of the City Planning Commission) the Garden District’s Partial Control Local Historic District. This new designation allows the HDLC jurisdiction over new construction, demolition, and demolition by neglect, of all properties generally bounded by Magazine Street, Delachaise Street, Carondelet Street, and Jackson Avenue. For more information, please contact the HDLC at (504) 658-7040. See Districts and Maps.
