Halloween Golden Flower Award
The Garden District Association is excited to introduce a new neighborhood initiative, the GDA Halloween Golden Flower Award, recognizing the best Halloween-decorated home in the Garden District! This new award is a fun way to celebrate the creativity, charm, and Halloween spirit that make our neighborhood so special. We invite you to join in the fun by decorating your home and entering this year’s competition. Whether your style is spooky, classic, whimsical, or completely over-the-top, all styles are welcome!
Here’s what to expect:
Registration Opens: Monday, September 28th
Regstation fee: $25 per house
Registration & Decorating Deadline: Friday, October 16th
Community Voting: October 19th – October 25th at midnight
Winner Announced: Monday, October 26th
Participating homes will be featured in our neighborhood voting, where residents and visitors can vote for their favorite Halloween- decorated home and help select the inaugural GDA Halloween Golden Flower Award winner. Start planning your pumpkins, ghosts, cobwebs, and spooky display. We can’t wait to see the Garden District get into the Halloween spirit! Join us in celebrating the creativity and charm of our neighborhood by showcasing your Halloween décor.
Please complete this registration form by Friday, October 16th to enter your home into this year’s competition. Participating homes should have decorations fully installed and visible by that date for neighborhood viewing.

Halloween Under the Oaks
Celebrate Halloween: Trick or Treat Under the Oaks!
Trick-or-Treat on designated route through the Garden District, 5:00 p.m. till 7 p.m.
A catered Family Party and Costume Contest at 2707 Coliseum Street, 6:30 p.m. till 8:30 p.m.

Tickets will be on sale through Oct 26 or until sold out. Tickets will be mailed or delivered if ordered by October 24. Tickets ordered after Oct 24 can be picked up at The David Spielman Gallery, 1332 Washington Ave. Tickets will not be sold at the door.
Tickets purchased by members for non-members should be purchased at the non-member price.

Fall Affair
Last year we were so happy to be back at Commander’s Palace with record crowds. Set your sites on a repeat this Fall as we gather on September 27, 2026. Benefactor tickets are $600 per couple or $300 per person. Supporter levels are $400 per couple / $200 per person. And, of course, we are always happy to accept donations at any level.
Annual General Membership Meeting
Each Spring, one of our homeowners graciously opens their doors for the Annual Membership Meeting and Reception where awards are given to those who have recently restored or renovated their homes making a significant impact on the immediate neighborhood. New board members are elected and updates on recent activities are shared. Our highest Award called the Terry-Parkerson Award is often presented to an individual or group who has followed in the footsteps of the Association’s founders to preserve, enhance and protect the neighborhood through their stewardship over an extended period of time.
This event is open to current GDA members only. Invitations will be sent to all current members of the Association.
Jazz and Juleps. Sorry, Sold Out!
Back by popular demand, this fun-filled Spring, Sunday supper on the lawn is accompanied by jazzy tunes and one of the city’s favorite concoctions, Mint Juleps. Join GDA members and new neighbors for a festive Sunday evening. $80 per Garden District member and $90 per non member. Event Chair: Pam Georges Music by Don Vappie Creole Trio

Summer Splash
Our summer swim and grill parties at Camp Pleasant have always been great fun with lots of future leaders in swim goggles splashing around. It is fun to see so many young families getting to know each other. Thursday, June 11, 2026 6 til 8 pm
$10 pp for GDA members
$12 pp for non GDA members
No charge for children under 3
Porch Party To Welcome New Residents
Periodically throughout the year, neighbors will join with the Association to hold casual receptions for those new to the neighborhood. The membership committee is on hand to answer questions about the Association and the area.
