Road Work on Jackson Avenue Claiborne to Tchoupitoulas To Begin Sent as courtesy to the Mayor’s Neighborhood Engagement Office, City of New Orleans The City of New Orleans, Department of Public Works’ contractor, Hard Rock Construction, LLC, is scheduled to begin construction next month on Jackson Ave. between S. Claiborne Ave. and Tchoupitoulas St. This work is being funded by the Disaster Community Development Block Grant.
Beginning on Tuesday, September 6, 2016, there will be temporary lane closures during work hours on Jackson Ave. between S. Claiborne and Tchoupitoulas St. Work will last for approximately nine months with no on-street parking on blocks with active construction. The scope of work includes the following:
- Removing and replacing top 3 inches of asphalt pavement
- Waterline replacement between Clara and Willow streets
- Installing American with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections
- Roadway striping, which will include one travel lane (full project limits), parking lane (full project limits), and a designated bike lane (St. Charles Ave. to Tchoupitoulas St.)
In general, construction crews will be working from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Work on the weekends is not anticipated; however, inclement weather may alter the project schedule. Residents are reminded to use caution when driving, bicycling and walking near construction sites.
