Lafayette Cemetery #1 Landscape Project Update

Lafayette Cemetery Landscape Project Moving Along

First, thank you all for your patience and supporting words as the contractors were able to get through the demolition and re-pouring of the sidewalks amongst all of the Mardi Gras activity along Washington Avenue at the Cemetery. It has not been an easy site to work with considering the congestion on Washington, but it is moving along nicely.

This week, the main entrance to the cemetery on Washington will be closed so the crew can demolish and pour the new surface. It will be closed to cure for about one week. The following week, the cobblestones along the curbs’ edges will be replaced and then the new ground cover will be installed. As of now, we expect to open one side of the sidewalk while the crew is installing the ground cover on the other side, then swap sides. The completion date is targeted for the end of the month.

Once again, we ask for your patience and encourage everyone to use the sidewalks on the downtown side of Washington until the project is completed.

We look forward to the finished product!

Enjoy the next parade this weekend!
