Lafayette Cemetery #1 Preservation Plan
In 2015, the GDA hired Clio Associates, LLC , preservation historians, to prepare a study and plan for the preservation of Lafayette Cemetery #1. This study was underwritten by the GDA and neighborhood activists including Mary Lou Christovich and Louise Martin who helped spearhead the project. The plan was presented to the city and shared with Save Our Cemeteries Association and the tomb owners organizations in hopes that future plans for the restoration of the cemetery would protect the historic treasures found there while respecting the sanctity of the gravesites.
