Robbery on Baronne and Washington

At 12:22am on 7-11-16, GDSD officer SFC. John-Paul Ruiz received a call from a resident stating that he was robbed at Baronne and Washington. He was standing at the corner of Washington and Carondelet waiting for a responding unit to take a report. He stated that he was sitting at the corner of Baronne and Washington reading his Nook E book reader when a black male wearing a navy blue shirt and jean shorts, approximately 5’10” with a thin build approached the victim and asked him if he could spare a few dollars for something to eat. He stated he had nothing to offer and the subject walked away. A short time later he returned and asked for a cigarette and offered to give pain pills as trade. He declined and at that point the subject grabbed the E book reader out of the victim’s hands and ran towards Carondelet and turned right towards Louisiana ave. GDSD notified NOPD of this incident and had the other GDSD units search the area for the subject, which we were never able to locate. NOPD arrived to handle the report.
