Jackson Ave. Resurfacing Project between S. Claiborne Ave. to Tchoupitoulas St. UPDATE: 2/6/17
The Department of Public Works’ construction contractor, Hard Rock Construction, LLC is approximately 60% complete with the Jackson Ave. Resurfacing Project between S. Claiborne Ave. to Tchoupitoulas St.
In an effort to minimize impacts, crews are performing work in two segments:
• Jackson Ave. between S. Claiborne Ave. and St. Charles Ave.
• Jackson Ave. between St. Charles Ave. and Tchoupitoulas St.
Jackson Ave. between S. Claiborne Ave. and St. Charles Ave.
Work on this segment of Jackson Ave. is approximately 95% complete and on schedule to be finished the week of February 13, 2017. Asphalt operations will be completed this week. Crews are currently preparing to stripe the travel lanes, parking lanes and crosswalks. After striping work is completed, this segment will be 100% complete.
Jackson Ave. between St. Charles Ave. and Tchoupitoulas St
Crews continue ADA-compliant curb ramp installation and sidewalk repairs on this segment of Jackson Ave. To minimize impacts, crews are working to complete repairs to open sidewalk and ADA curb ramps prior to February 16, 2017. Recently, crews milled off the top layer of asphalt between St. Charles and Tchoupitoulas in order to identify where full depth asphalt patching repairs are needed. During the Mardi Gras season, the street will remain in this condition with the top layer of asphalt removed. In some areas, there are safety fencing and barricades surrounding locations where full depth patching repairs were performed. The barricades are necessary to allow the concrete to cure. Please drive with caution and follow all safety / construction signage.
The overall project is expected to be complete in spring 2017.
